A historic piece of West Cumbrian history has gone missing.
The search is on for Egremont Crab Fair’s gurning ‘braffin’ – a horse collar that is put over the head of people taking part in the fair’s gurning competition.
It is regularly lent out to local schools, organisations and groups by the Crab Fair committee and organisers said they believe it has been accidentally misplaced.
The 756-year-old fair is set to return later this year for the first time in four years and organisers have added an additional Sunday session – Dancing in the Field – to the schedule.
The braffin has since been found tucked away in a loft in the town – read more here.
