A north Cumbrian road will be closed for 11 days so it can be improved.
Work is due to start on the C1038 at Wetheral Shields, near Carlisle, on Tuesday.
The road will be closed between the B6263 and Knothill.
Cumberland Council said it hoped the work would be completed in 11 days, weather permitting.
A signed diversion route in place.
The council is asking residents to find alternative parking. If residents or businesses require access to their property, it asks that people discuss it with the traffic marshal who will be on site during the work.
Depending on the site activities residents may have to wait a short time until it is safe to be escorted through the work site, the authority said.
Access will be maintained for emergency services during the works.
