Two men have appeared in court after cocaine with an estimated street value of £24,000 was seized by police from a car in Workington.
Umar Ali, 29, and Mohammed Kazam, 30, jointly face one charge. This alleges the possession of class A cocaine, with intent to supply it to another.
It is alleged they committed the offence on July 28 this year. Police stopped a Volkswagen Golf which is said to have gone through a red light in Workington.
Ali and Kazam appeared in front of a judge at Carlisle Crown Court today. During a short hearing they both pleaded not guilty to the allegation.
The pair are now due to stand trial in front of a jury at the crown court. This is expected to take place in the week of January 15 next year and, it is estimated, will last around two to three days.
In the meantime Ali, of Lawkholme Lane, and Kazam, of Ashleigh Street, both in Keighley, were remanded in custody.
