Dozens of torn up pizza boxes have been fly-tipped in a Cumbrian town.
The rubbish was found dumped in bushes on Low Road in Cockermouth, which is near the town’s main road by the Lakes Homes Centre.
Local resident Donna Redden spotted the mess, who said the find was shocking and disgusting. She added that the boxes appeared to have been deliberately ripped up into small pieces.

In total, she said there appeared to be around five bin bags worth of cut up pizza boxes left behind.
The incident has been reported to Cumbria Police.
A £200 fixed penalty notice can be issued by the council to anyone who is believed to have fly-tipped.
However, if prosecuted in court, offenders can be fined up to £95,000, have their vehicle seized and even go to prison.

If you see someone fly-tipping you are advised not to tackle the offender yourself.
Instead, you should take note of the time and place of the incident, the vehicle registration and description, a photograph, the type of rubbish being dumped and any other information you think is relevant.
