
A man who was found with head injuries in a Barrow street last night has died.
Police were called at about 9.55pm by the ambulance service after a man had been found with head injuries near the Owl and Pussycat pub on Walney Road.
The man, believed to be in his 40s, was taken to Furness General Hospital. He died a short time later.
A cordon is in place at the scene as initial investigative enquiries continue. Ashburner Way is closed in both directions.
The death is currently unexplained, and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident, police said.
Enquiries are also being made to locate the deceased’s next of kin.
