A Lake District restaurant has been named the best fine dining venue in the UK – an the third best in the world – by Tripadvisor.

Hot on the heels of being named restaurant of the year by the AA, the Old Stamp House in Ambleside was also victorious in the Tripadvisor Best of the Best Restaurants Awards.

The Ambleside restaurant was also named number two in the UK’s Date Night category, with its sister restaurant, Kysty, named in 10th spot in the same category.

The Old Stamp House also boasts a Michelin Star and three AA Rosettes for Culinary Excellence.

Chef patron Ryan Blackburn said: ”It’s incredible that we’ve been recognised with the Travellers’ Choice Awards for the third year in a row, as well as being listed third in the World, and third in the UK date Night categories for Old Stamp House and in 10th spot for our sister restaurant Kysty, which is also in Ambleside.

‘’Both teams constantly listen to our guests and that feedback helps us to develop, so that we can continue to deliver consistency and excellence across everything we do in both restaurants. Following on so closely from being named the AA’s Restaurant of the Year for England 2023, were all a little bit lost for words.

“But we want to say thank you to our guests, our amazing suppliers and to our team for helping us achieve all that we do.’’
