Workington Academy students have completed a 24-hour danceathon to raise money for an improved performing space.
The school’s performing arts department hosted the event which took place on Friday October 20 at 7pm.
Teacher Emily Houghton organised the event and several other staff members also attended throughout to support the event and keep morale high.
Students took part in a series of workshops and finished 24 hours later with a dance showcase for family, friends and staff.

Miss Houghton said: “It was inspiring to see the students over the 24 hours as they showed resilience and determination to participate in the danceathon.
“I know they are dedicated to all of the performing arts enrichment clubs that we offer at Workington Academy, and I will continue to improve the facilities we have for those students to give them the best opportunities and experiences that I can.
“I hope they will remember this event for years to come.”
Over £2,700 has been raised so far and the school plans to put the money towards lighting and staging in its main hall.
