Workington Town have added three new recruits to their 2024 squad β and one of them is a familiar face.
Forward Jake Lightowler is returning to Town after leaving last season to follow coach Chris Thorman to Newcastle.
A newcomer is also a former Newcastle Thunder player, 22-year-old Tyler Walton who is a product of their Academy system.
As a teenager Walton broke through into the first team in 2019 before moving to Rochdale Hornets for more opportunities the following year.
He then moved to France to play in Elite 1 with Albi Tigers where he had a very successful season and picked up the player of the year award.
As well as Newcastle and Rochdale, Walton has picked-up League One experience in the UK with Midlands Hurricanes.
A Town spokesman said: βHe is an agile, skilful and aggressive middle who can play big minutes with an all-action style that supporters will love.β
Lightowler spent two seasons with Workington and in his time at Town the English Student international made 15 appearances for the club, scoring two tries.
The 23-year-old was a product of the Bradford Bulls academy before signing for Thunder in 2020, having moved to the North East to study at Northumbria University.
The other new signing is Kian McPherson, an exciting young amateur from the Millom club who has agreed a two-year deal at Town.
The 20-year-old made a startling impact in the National Conference League when he scored a hat-trick four years ago against Eastmoor Dragons.
