
The closest game out of six in the West Cumberland Sunday League was a First Division game.
A first-half goal from Nathan Brash was enough to edge hosts Salterbeck to victory against Royal Oak.
The other games – three in the President’s Cup and two in the Premier Division produced more emphatic victories.
Northside made progress in the President’s Cup but were given a good test by home side Flimby Social Club before getting through 3-0.
Callum Killick, Max Litt and Tony Berwick scored the Northside goals.
Premier Division leaders Parkside made Cup progress with a 9-3 win against Senhouse Street Club.
Ryan Maguire (4), Tom Mahone (3) and Callum Birdsall (2) were on target for Parkside with Gary O’Driscoll, Dan Smith and Terry Wharrier replying for the Workington side.
Easiest winners on the day were FC Cosmos as they romped home 11-2 at King’s Arms.
Dylan Elsworth (3), Owen Woods (2), Will Starkey, Kian Sim, Lewis Parks, Kyle Newbury, Aiden Graham and Ryan Doran scored the Cosmos goals.
Joe Appleby and Sam Rowell responded for the King’s Arms.
In the Premier Division Deer Orchard had a good 6-2 win at Moresby Rangers.
Louis Pickering (3), Sam Wright (2) and Robert Cox scored for the Cockermouth side with Jay Connor and Owen Thompson responding for Moresby.
Thornhill and Lowca had no referee arrive for their game but one of the Pirates took the whistle and by all accounts did a good job.
Lowca goals all came from Owen Woodburn with Lewis Selkirk notching Thornhill’s consolation.
