Maryport were one of the success stories last season in the Holmen Iggesund Cumberland ARL.

In the doldrums in recent years, including a spell out of competitive rugby, they capped a highly promising campaign by winning the E Lamb and Son Amateur Cup.

Although they didn’t quite make the top four there was a strong feeling that they can make a push for that in 2024.

With that in mind the club has organised a players’ meeting for next Wednesday, November 15 in the clubhouse.

Head coach Mark Foster said: “We were all really pleased with how last season went and now we want to push on.

“We have organised the meeting for our current players and anybody who would like to join us in 2024. It starts at 6.30pm.

“Our coaching team will explain what we are looking forward and what our plans are for pre-season etc.

“We have a great youth set-up in place at the club and the way the first team has been shaping with numbers we hope it won’t be too long before we can put out an A team.

“Everybody is excited for the future at Maryport Rugby League Club and can’t wait for 2024.”
