Temporary traffic light

Roadworks are set to start next week on a major Carlisle road.

Contractors are set to begin work on London Road on Wednesday for nine days between Highwood Crescent and Eastern Way, during the evening.

Temporary traffic lights will be installed and one-way systems implemented to prevent traffic coming onto London Road through Cumwhinton Road and Petteril Bank Road, for the duration of the work to minimise disruption.

The night-time traffic light system will run from around 6pm to 2am and the road will be accessible outside of these hours.

The scheme is due to finish on Monday, November 27.

If residents or businesses require access to their property, they need to discuss it with the traffic marshal who will be on site during the work. People are asked to be aware that there might be some delays accessing properties.

Access will be maintained for emergency services during the work.
