Barrow are just a point outside the Division Two automatic play-off places.
That’s as a result of their 4-1 win at Colchester which extended their unbeaten league run to a club-record nine games.
In a remarkable finish, with the sides locked at 1-1, Colchester had a man sent off in the 84th minute.
What followed was mayhem with goals in the 86th, 93rd and 94th minutes carrying the Bluebirds to a comprehensive victory.
Colchester had actually gone ahead after 20 minutes when Cameron McGeehan netted from close range after the Barrow keeper Paul Farman had spilled a shot from Jayden Fevrier.
Barrow thought they should have had a penalty when Robbie Gotts went down in the box, and manager Pete Wild showed his frustration.
It cost him because he was dismissed by referee Declan Bourne just after the half-time whistle.
However Barrow equalised in the 52nd minute when Dominic Telford hit the crossbar but struck Colchester defender Will Greenidge and went into the net.
Fevrier was sent off for a second bookable after a foul on Elliot Newby and then Barrow cashed in.
George Ray put Barrow ahead two minutes later from close range and it was Ray again who grabbed the third from close range in the third minute of stoppage time.
To round off a miserable finish for the home side Zach Mitchell diverted Kian Spence’s cross into his own net a minute later.
