The A590 in South Cumbria was closed in both directions following a serious collision yesterday morning.

The incident, at Lindal at about 9.45am, involved a VW Golf and a tractor.

The VW Golf driver suffered serious injuries and has been airlifted to hospital.

Police said the road was likely to remain closed for some time.

At 3.50pm, National Highways said the road remained closed in both directions between the A595 at Dalton-in-Furness and the B5281 at Ulverston.

Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision to contact them and they are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have dashcam of the incident.

Report online at www.cumbria.police.uk/reportit quoting incident number 47 of 28 November 2023 or call 101.

Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
