Carlisle City manager Jim Nichols isn’t too hopeful of tomorrow’s FA Vase tie going ahead.
City are due to entertain Charnock Richard from the North West Counties League in the third round.
It’s the furthest City have been in the competition but it looks as if they are going to have to wait a bit longer to try and improve that record.
Nichols said today: “The pitch is rock hard and the forecast is for minus five to minus six over night.
“Obviously we will have a pitch inspection early doors but I think the chances of playing are just about zero.”
Other non-League clubs around the county will also be apprehensive about their chances of playing tomorrow as the freeze bites.
Tonight’s First Division game between Heaton Stannington and Whitley Bay is off and so too is tomorrow’s game between Tow Law and Guisborough.
Penrith are due to travel to Boro Rangers and that is likely to depend on a pitch inspection tonight or early morning.
In the North West Counties Premier Division Kendal are looking forward to a trip to leaders Wythenshawe but the weather in Manchester isn’t too promising.
In Division One North Holker Old Boys are due to host Darwen.
They were in action on Tuesday night when they lost 2-1 at home to Carlisle City’s Vase opponents Charnock Richard.
In the West Lancashire League the two west Cumbrian clubs have scheduled away trips.
Whitehaven go to Fulwood Amateurs (4-0 conquerors of Cleator Moor Celtic last week) while Celtic are on the road to Poulton. Both will be subject to pitch inspections.
