A morale-boosting home win over Stockport has set up Penrith for a tricky looking trip to Manchester in Regional 1 North West.
That 29-12 bonus point win lifted Penrith out of the relegation zone for the first time since September and with some of their higher profile players now available as they go forward they will be looking to build on it and secure their place in this league.
Also along the way there have been some seriously talented youngsters who have been given a chance to shine at this level and that will benefit them and the club in the coming months.
The Penrith coaching team will probably have had a word with Dan Bowman this week after his Kendal side were beaten 25-14 by Manchester at Mint Bridge last Saturday.
Manchester stay fourth in the table with the big three all still level some 17 points better off.
Kendal are sixth now, four points behind Manchester, but Bowman and his side will be looking to get back to winning ways when they visit Northwich who have slipped to next to bottom after losing 19-7 at Anselmians.
In Regional 2 North bottom side Cockermouth had to concede their game at leaders Percy Park. They were down to their last two fit and available props and then one had to drop out on Friday morning due to a family situation.
The Wasps expect to be back in action at home against a Middlesbrough side who are third in the table, although some way behind leaders Percy Park. Adam Morrison is the appointed referee.
Aspatria are just two points behind Boro but the Black Reds have a tough assignment on as they travel to Northern who are second in the table.
The other three Cumbrian sides in Regional Two North again occupy the bottom three spots with Keswick currently best-placed to fight clear of the drop zone.
But they have the challenge of taking on top dogs Percy Park at Davidson Park in what should be an entertaining clash for the locals. Martin Denvir is the man in the middle.
Upper Eden have put up a sequence of agonisingly close results over the last month or so and will be hoping they come out on the right side against visitors Durham City who are fifth in the table. Martin Maughan is the referee appointed.
Counties 1 Cumbria leaders Carlisle host Hawcoat Park with Simon Barker officiating in the middle.
The other fixtures are: Whitehaven v Millom (Alistair Jones); Egremont v Wigton (Daniel Shovelton); Creighton v St Benedict’s (Jim Donald); Penrith 2s v Keswick 2s (Mike Firby); Windermere v Aspatria 2s (Paddy Loughran)
