Carlisle United have continued their productive start to the January transfer window.

Following Luke Armstrong’s confirmed arrival from Harrogate and Sean Grehan’s loan move from Crystal Palace, United have added a third new face.

Midfielder Harrison Neal has joined the club on a permanent deal from Sheffield United after cutting short a loan arrangement at Stevenage.

The 22-year-old joins the Blues on a permanent deal after agreeing a contract until the summer of 2026.

Neal came through the ranks at Bramall Lane and has excelled during a number of loan spells, the first of which came with Kettering Town in the 2021/22 campaign.

His performances with The Poppies drew admiring glances from higher up the pyramid and he subsequently joined National League outfit Southend United on a temporary basis – playing 22 times at Roots Hall.

He spent last season with Barrow, playing a key role for the Bluebirds

Neal spent the first half of this season with Steve Evans’ side, where he featured 11 times, but had been on the sidelines and short of game time in recent weeks.
