People will be able to see and hear about the latest Kendal Vision projects at an event later this month.
It will be the second progress event held by Kendal Futures since the vision was published in 2020.
People are invited to drop in to see the exhibition will be held in the Assembly Rooms in Kendal Town Hall on Wednesday January 17, from 1.30pm to 8pm. A presentation will take place at 2pm and repeated at 6pm.
During the presentation, Kendal Futures will reveal the findings of a specialist movement study which offers ideas to reimagine Kendal’s road network and make the streets attractive public spaces for everyone – people, cyclists and vehicles – in the long term.
The study was funded by Westmorland and Furness Council via the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, and while inspirational, has involved significant data analysis and explored the technical constraints to ensure proposals could be delivered in the future.
There will also be another opportunity to find out more about the town centre regeneration projects which were recently awarded £13.5m from the Government’s Levelling Up Fund and how the now completed Stramongate public space improvement scheme will influence this scheme.
Mark Cropper, chairman of Kendal Futures, said: “The importance of our places is now widely recognised and having the Vision, led by Kendal Futures, has enabled Kendal to attract a significant funding investment from the Government.
“The vision was shaped by the views of 2,000 local people who told us what’s important to them.
“While the Vision provides long-term inspiration for change in Kendal, change is complex and can take a long time.
“However, working with Westmorland and Furness Council, Kendal Town Council and the local community via our action groups, progress is being made. We are excited to share the findings of our latest study to improve our traffic system and Kendal’s streetscape.”
