FC Cosmos dented Parkside’s title hopes in the West Cumberland Sunday League when they were 3-0 winners in their Premier Division clash.

It was a feisty affair throughout and the rivals had a player each sent-off during a particularly stormy spell.

Dan Hill, Dean Fox and Lewis Park scored the goals which gave Cosmos a deserving victory over a weakened Parkside side whose lead at the top is down to five points.

Northside were able to close the gap from eight points after they had to come from behind to beat Lowca Pirates 5-2 in a home fixture.

Travis Fyfe and Shane Tyson had given the Pirates a 2-1 interval lead but Northside stormed back to win the game.

Max Litt, Callum Killick, Chad Grisedale, Tommy Whitehead and Cain Pears scored the goals for Northside.

In the other Premier Division game Dearham Commercial were 3-1 winners against Moresby Rangers thanks to goals from James Langstaff, Jack Brown and Danny Dryden.  Owen Thompson scored the Moresby goal.

In Division One there were two games and both finished 3-2 with the away side coming out on top.

Flimby Social travelled to Salterbeck and came away with the points with goals from Matthew Heaney, Brad Heaton and Dylan Turner. Charlie Shaw and Joseph Courtney kept the home side in contention.

In the other League game Seaton Rangers were helped by two own goals in their win at The Sun. Arron Hunter scored the third while Brandon O’Fee and Jordan Berrigan netted for The Sun.

Six other games involved various Cup-ties, with the most exciting involving Bluebell and Deer Orchard in the Albert Murphy Trophy.

Orchard were 3-1 down and had Lee Clark sent off before fighting their way back into the contest and five minutes from the end 17-year-old Milo Cooke gave then a thrilling 4-3 victory.

Ben Wright, Louis Pickering and Luke Graham had pulled Orchard level and the youngster Cooke knocked in the late winner.

Bluebell seemed to be heading towards victory with a 3-1 lead and against 10 men but couldn’t see it through. Kieran Mewse, Carl Denvir and Greg Quayle had given them their handy lead.

In the League Cup Thornhill were 2-1 winners Senhouse Street Club with goals from Gary Humphreys and Scott Fowler.

There was a physical clash in the President’s Cup where FC Butchers won 4-1 at Sun Inn with goals from Cameron Carter (2), Jack Burns and Ciaqran Laverty. Mally Graham scored for Sun Inn.

The other tie was in the Kenny Hailes Memorial Trophy and the Royal Oak came out on top at King’s Arms 5-1 and had the help of two own goals by Grant Walker and Joe Appleby.  Callum Fleming, Carl Lofthouse and Ryan Smith scored in the right goal for them.

The consolation goal for King’s Arms came from Kieran Fraser.

Fixtures for Sunday are:

  • President’s Cup semi-final – Northside v Parkside; FC Cosmos v Butcher’s.
  • Premier Division: Dearham v Bluebell; Deer Orchard v Thornhill; Moresby v Lowca.
  • First Division: Flimby v Senhouse Street; King’s Arms v Swan Inn; Royal Oak v Sun Inn’
  • Three Tier League Cup – Seaton v Salterbeck.
