We are delighted to invite you to join us at our sixth form open evening on Tuesday January 30 between 5pm and 7.30pm.

QEGS welcomes internal and external applications for the sixth form and we encourage anyone thinking about A-levels to attend the event.

There is no need to book for the evening, which will provide information on all the A-level subjects offered, details of how to apply, a tour of the school and its facilities and the opportunity to meet current sixth form students and staff.

At QEGSs Sixth Form, we pride ourselves on high aspirations, developing students beyond the curriculum and working together as a community to ensure they are prepared for their next steps in life.

The sixth form programme at QEGS is designed to enable students to follow their interests and make decisions which will influence their own future.

The school is committed to supporting students to become autonomous learners who can engage critically with the world around them and are well informed about post-18 opportunities.

QEGS provides a broad curriculum offer and no matter which subjects a student chooses, they will be taught by highly experienced teachers who have a real passion for their subjects. 46% of our students achieved A* and A grades in 2023 with a pass rate of 99%.

Life at QEGS is about so much more than just A-levels and students are able to take advantage of the wide range of electives and extracurricular activities on offer.

These include certified options like the Sports Leaders Award, Duke of Edinburgh, the Extended Project Qualification and Arts Award. It also includes opportunities to develop skills for life beyond Sixth Form like cooking on a budget and interview skills.

During Year 13, students take part in a lecture programme – a comprehensive series of talks covering everything from study skills to road safety.

There are a multitude of opportunities to participate in extra curricular activities such as sports, music and drama, including the annual school production.

This strong sense of community also enables students to be role models for younger students and there are numerous ways to get involved with leadership opportunities including through the student leadership team, as a prefect, as a year 7 buddy or as a mentor.

The school continues to be immensely proud of the achievements of all students and takes every opportunity to celebrate their success.

The recent annual A-level awards evening saw former students reunite to be presented with their certificates by Melissa Williams, a QEGS alumna.

The vast majority of students go on to study at university or begin prestigious apprenticeships with firms such as Jaguar, Land Rover or Nestle.

The school has a proven track record of supporting applications to top universities including Oxford and Cambridge, with over 20 students taking up places over the last five years.

Applications for the sixth form will open on Tuesday January 30 at 5pm and can be made online at https://qegs.applicaa.com/year12
