Workington Comets will return to the Northside track for a traditional fixture with Berwick Bandits in the Border Trophy.

The meeting launched the sport at Derwent Park in 1970 and Sunday, March 31 will see the new 2024 campaign launched in west Cumbria.

The two teams will have met the night before at Shielfield in the Bandits’ home leg.

The first speedway action at Northside, however, will be on Saturday, March 16 with the prestigious Ben Fund Bonanza meeting featuring some of the best riders currently involved in British speedway.

Workington will also be racing before the two-legged Border Trophy as their first competitive match as a Championship side will come on Friday, March 29 at Scunthorpe Scorpions in the group stage of the BSN Series.

On March 23, the Comets will be holding their press and practice day at Northside.

The second leg of the BSN Series fixture with Scunthorpe is on Saturday, April 6 at Northside.

They travel to Redcar Bears on Friday, April 12 where they will be up against two of their former riders in last year’s number one Connor Bailey and Charles Wright.
The home leg with Redcar will be eight days later on Saturday, April 20.

There’s a quick return to Redcar on Friday, April 26 to take on the Bears in the Championship KO Cup and the actual first Championship meeting will be at Glasgow Tigers on Friday, May 3.
