Dearham Commercial enjoyed one of their finest results when they beat FC Cosmos 6-1 in the Sunday County Cup.
Cosmos have been putting together some excellent performances of late, including a fine victory over long-time West Cumberland Sunday League Premier Division leaders Parkside.
But they were no match for an enthusiastic Dearham side on this occasion who have reached the quarter finals of the County Cup competition for the first time.
Danny Dryden was a hat trick hero for Dearham and he was joined on the score sheet by James Langstaff, Jack Brown and Attlee Skillen.
Bradley O’Pray scored the solitary goal for Cosmos who have sportingly wished Dearham all the best in the next round.
The most exciting tie was at Wakefield Road, Cockermouth where Deer Orchard and FC Butcher’s finished level at 3-3.
The game was decided on penalties and it was the Division One side who went through 5-4 on spot kicks.
Premier Division Orchard had scored through Milo Cooke (2) and Luke Graham with Cieran Laverty, Jack Burns and Joe Porter ensuring Butcher’s took it to penalties.
Parkside had a battle royal with Moresby Rangers before they earned their place in the quarter finals with a 3-1 victory.
Ryan Gray (2) and Ben McCarron put the Premier Division leaders through with Owen O’Neill responding for Moresby.
The fourth west Cumbrian tie between Sun Inn and Northside was postponed.
In a Tier 3 League Cup game Dan Graham took the headlines for Seaton Rangers as they won 4-3 at Swan and he scored all four.
Bluebell won 4-2 at Thornhill in the Premier Division with goals from Carl Denver, Taylor Bromley, Greg Quayle and Aidan Smith. Harry Hodgson and Lewis Selkirk responded for Thornhill.
In Division One King’s Arms were 5-3 winners at Flimby Social with Coady Scott (2), Josh Wise, Bobby Fitzpatrick and Joe Appleby on target.
Scott Underwood, Jonathan Heaney and Brandon Birks replied for Flimby.
In an all-Workington game in Division One Senhouse Street came out on top 3-0 at home to Salterbeck with a brace from Terry Wharrier and an own goal.
