Postponed improvement work on two A595 bridges will now begin next month – with overnight road closures planned.

Contractors will work on Muncaster Mill Bridge and Muncaster Bridge to investigate bridge tonnage from Friday, March 1.

Work will be carried out on Muncaster Mill Bridge on Friday, March 1 and Saturday March 2. The road will be closed for both nights from 10pm to 5am.

Muncaster Bridge will see work start on Friday March 15 and Saturday March 16, plus Friday March 22 and Saturday March 23. The road will be closed on those four nights from 10pm to 5am.

Traffic marshals will be at the layby near Holmerook filling station and the layby on the long straight Millom side of Muncaster to answer questions and guide vehicles to appropriate turn-around points.

Access will be maintained for emergency services during the work, but wagons will be banned from passing through.

If residents require access to their property, they should discuss it with the traffic marshal and be aware that there might be some delays accessing properties.
