Sunday County Cup quarter finals postponed

Two of the Sunday County Cup quarter final ties were postponed yesterday because of unplayable pitches.

Parkside v holders Inter Pirelli and Denton Holme v Northside will hopefully be played next Sunday.

The two games that were played were really tight, competitive affairs with the Carlisle teams coming out on top in both.

Scotby at home to Dearham finished 1-1 after 90 minutes but the hosts found a winner in extra time to go through to the semi-final.

Jack Brown scored for Dearham who could be proud of their efforts in going so close to a first ever appearance at that stage of the competition.

In the other quarter final tie Butcher’s went out 2-1 to visitors Jovial Sailor but the west Cumbrians missed a penalty at 0-0. Ciaran Laverty scored their goal.

The only game left standing, because of the weather, was in the League Cup tier three in which King’s Arms beat Royal Oak 6-2. It was their third win in three games in that competition.

Kieran Fraser (2), Dawson Webster, Lewis Hunter, Danny Shaw and an opponent’s own goal made up the King’s Arms tally. Tom Stephenson and Daniel Wilkins replied for Royal Oak.

Sunday’s fixtures

  • County Cup – Parkside v Inter Pirelli; Denton Holme v Northside.
  • Premier Division – Deer Orchard v Dearham; FC Cosmos v Moresby; Lowca v Thornhill.
  • First Division – King’s Arms v Butcher’s; The Sun v Royal Oak.
  • Tier 2 League Cup – Senhouse Street v Bluebell
  • Tier 3 League Cup – Swan v Flimby
