A man has been charged with murder following the death of a 34-year-old woman.
Paul Irwin, 50, of George Street, Whitehaven is charged with the murder of Tiffany Render, also of Whitehaven.
He was also charged with sexual assault.
Irwin appeared at Magistrates Court today, March 26 and was remanded into custody. He is due to appear before Carlisle Crown Court tomorrow, March 27.
The charge follows an investigation after officers were called to a property on George Street, Whitehaven at around 11.45pm on March 22.
