Barrow scored a 3-1 home win over struggling Grimsby Town to move nearer confirmation of a promotion play-off place.
In fact they still haven’t give up on an automatic promotion finish in the top three as they currently lie fifth, six points off third spot with a game in hand.
Cole Stockton is proving an astute January recruit as his double strike took him to seven goals since his arrival at Holker Street.
The south Cumbrians have been uneaten in March and are moving towards their first-ever EFL play-off – or even better with seven games to play.
Stockton, who joined Barrow in the transfer window on loan from Burton Albion, opened the scoring in the 11th minute.
His second goal on 22 minutes was a bit easier, tapping the ball home from close in after Dom Telford’s shot had been blocked on the line.
Grimsby were close to cutting the deficit in the second-half but a Kieran Green header came back of the post.
Wild’s side, however, were always the more likely side to score again and they did so after 81 minutes to clinch when Robbie Gotts fired home a low shot from the edge of the area.
Grimsby did get some consolation when Justin Obikwu scored after 88 minutes but they were never going to get any closer.
This win stretched Barrow’s unbeaten run to six games – all in March – and the sequence is made up of four victories and two draws.
