Relegated Carlisle United stumble sees Blackpool get points at Brunton Park

Brunton Park, home of Carlisle United

The only goal of the game inside a minute gave Blackpool the points at Brunton Park as relegated Carlisle United stumbled again.

Karamoko Dembele’s goal was timed at 22 seconds and the midfielder went on to give the kind of performance which highlighted the lack of quality in the Carlisle ranks.

One of the quickest goals ever scored in a game at Brunton Park it came when he curled in a great shot after being played through by Shayne Lavery.

It proved to be enough to give the Seasiders a third win in a row and moved them to within three points of the play-offs in a late end-of-season charge.

Home keeper Harry Lewis had to produce a good save after ten minutes to keep out a shot from Lavery which looked like it would double the Blackpool lead.

The nearest Carlisle got to an equaliser came on the hour when a header from Luke Armstrong was cleared off the line.

Blackpool could have had another before the end but Lewis pulled off another good save to keep out an effort from Sonny Carey.
