A team of Sellafield Ltd degree apprentices are taking on the Three Peaks Challenge in just 24 hours for charity.
The group of 15 will climb Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon – the highest peaks in England, Scotland, and Wales – whilst raising money for the North West Air Ambulance.
Setting off on Saturday June 1 at 6am they plan to finish 24 hours later after descending Snowdon at 6am the following day.
It will see them cover over 26 miles with an ascent of 3064 metres and an estimated walking time of 14 hours.
Aaron Watters, 21, who has organised the challenge, said: “We understand the significance of the North West Air Ambulance service has, especially within the Lake District.
“We’ve set up a GoFundMe page, so donations can be made easily and any donations made are greatly appreciated and go towards supporting a great cause.”
The group are aiming to raise £10,000 for the charity and have so far raised nearly £1000.
Archie Knight, 21, who is also taking part in the challenge, said the group were all preparing for the event with plenty of cardio and fell walking.
He added: “Aaron came up with the idea and we also thought it would be a good chance to challenge ourselves and work on our development by organising our own event.
“Being from the Lakes we all see the impact of what the North West Air Ambulance do and we want to support them where we can as they rely on donations and funding.
“We’re all really excited for it, everyone is raring to go.”
