Keswick again closed the gap on Cockermouth to two points at the top of the Cumberland County League Division One after a 2-1 win against Bransty Rangers.
Richard Bannister and an own goal provided Keswick with the needed points to keep the pressure on Cockermouth as this thrilling title race nears its conclusion. Stewart O’Pray netted for Bransty.
In the Premier Division, a double for Luke Bewsher Canon with Owen Johnston and Ben Carini also netting, helped Workington Reds Reserves to a 4-1 victory against Wigton Harriers in their last match in the Cumberland County League.
The Borough Park club have withdrawn from the league and will be playing elsewhere next season. Robbie Woodburn was Wigton’s goal scorer.
In the Divisional Cup Group B, a Callum Wilson hat trick and goals from Kyle Hiddleston, Lewis Hunter and Luke Jackson helped Mirehouse to a 6-0 win against Silloth.
Maryport Athletic continued their fine form with another win, this time beating Aspatria 4-2. Ethan Weir (2), Ciaran Laverty and an own goal helped them to victory in the Ken Glover Memorial Cup. Richard Hudson bagged himself a brace for Aspatria.
In the Ken Glover Memorial Cup, Dan Hill and Lewis Park were on the scoresheet for Whitehaven Miners Social after they beat Unisun Athletic 2-1 with Dillon Burns scoring for the Carlisle side.
