Plans to expand a Barrow bar could create up to 38 jobs.

Theatre Bar, on Cavendish Street, wants to expand into the next door premises, formerly used by the takeaway Wrapport.

It currently employs seven people and the new plans would create up to 22 full-time jobs and 16 part-time roles.

The proposals, submitted to Westmorland and Furness Council, would see an enlarged nightclub, a restaurant, a kitchen and a bar.

The former takeaway would consist of a kitchen area and a ‘chill out’ bar area on the ground floor with a restaurant on the first floor.

There will be a bar on the ground floor of Theatre Bar with a stage area, a general seating area and a VIP seating area on the second floor.

Toilets would be in the cellar, the first floor and the fourth floor, plus a rooftop terrace would be created, including smoking and non-smoking areas.

The planning application is under consideration.
