
A man is due to appear in court today after an incident in Carlisle.
Police were called at around 9.30am yesterday, Wednesday May 15, with reports that there was a man with a gun in a premises on St Nicholas Gate Retail Park.
Firearms officers were deployed and police said a man was arrested.
A statement released today said a man has been charged in connection with the incident – for misuse of 999.
Ben Addison, 26, of Melbourne Road, Carlisle, was charged last night by detectives and has been remanded. He is due to appear before Carlisle Magistrates Court today.
Cumbria Constabulary said further enquires established that the individual never had access to a firearm and there was no firearm involved in the incident.
