
Five people were injured in a collision on a north Cumbrian road.
The incident happened on the A689 at around 1.45pm yesterday, Thursday May 23, and involved a Volkswagen Crossland and an Audi Q5.
The five people were taken to hospital – with some described as having serious injuries, said police.
The road was closed between Junction 44 of the M6 and the Houghton junction.
Police said the road was likely to remain closed for several hours while forensic examinations were carried out at the scene.
Anyone who saw the collision and has yet to come forward is asked to contact police.
