Two men arrested on suspicion of a burglary in Workington on Friday are due to appear in court today.

The incident happened in the Salterbeck area in the early hours.

Josh Nicholson, 27, of Mona Road, Workington, has been charged with an offence of dwelling burglary with intent to steal and resisting a constable in the execution of their duty.

The resisting arrest charge relates to an alleged attempt by Nicholson to evade arrest.

Police said a member of the public assisted officers, but when other officers arrived, the man left the area without leaving any of his information.

A spokesman said: “We would kindly ask if anyone knows who this man is, please can he get in contact with the police as we would like to pass on our thanks for helping the officers in a difficult situation.”

Ricky Rayson, 35, of Fountains Avenue, Workington, has been charged with an offence of dwelling burglary with intent to steal.

Nicholson and Rayson were remanded into police custody to appear at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court today, Monday May 27.

Anyone with any further information relating to the burglary that took place at approximately 4am on 24 May 2024 can report online at www.cumbria.police.uk/report-it quoting log 24 of 24 May or call 101.

Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555111.
