The future of Ulverston’s library and the town’s Coronation Hall could soon be decided as a public consultation gets underway.
The town’s library was closed indefinitely in September last year following reports of an electrical fault.
Westmorland and Furness Council have worked with architects to draw up eight options with varying scope and costs.
These range from ‘do nothing’ to light-touch upgrades and extensive refurbishments of the King’s Road library building and The Coro.
The council’s preferred option is to ‘focus cultural, learning and creative arts on a single destination’ to bring library services into The Coro.
The move would require investment to remodel the building and layout to extend the library and create new community spaces and a new café bar area.
In the survey the council say this option best met the key objectives.
An online survey is now live with paper copies also available at The Coro.
The deadline for responses is August 23.
