Workington fans had the opportunity to watch the Reds training last night as manager Mark Fell made it an open session at Borough Park.
The only absentee was Steven Rigg as the rest of the squad were put through their paces by Fell and his staff ion a very watchable work-out.
There was also a new face among the Workington players – a former Newcastle United Academy graduate who was on the bench for the Magpies against PSG in the Champions League.
He has also been on trial at three of the North East non-League clubs after being released by Newcastle and Fell is hoping that he will agree to join the Reds after training with them.
Reds start the new season at Guiseley on Saturday and Fell spoke to Cumbria Crack’s John Walsh about his hopes for the opener and the rest of the season.
Walsh also took time at the session to speak to club chairman Phil Norman and asked him about his hopes for the coming season.
The new manager has a varied back-up staff and Maddie Whitehouse is Reds’ new player liaison officer – who also works for Manchester City. Walsh spoke to her too:
