There have been a series of football festivals/tournaments in West Cumbria over the last fortnight.

Workington Juniors, Aspatria, Cockermouth and Whitehaven have all staged successful and well-organised events for the youngsters of the area.

Whitehaven had a massive turn-out for their two day extravaganza at the County Ground, when they also were able to use the Whitehaven Rugby League Club’s pitch and facilities.

Their football neighbours Whitehaven Miners also provided car parking facilities.

To hear about the organisation for such a huge event Cumbria Crack’s John Walsh talked to club representatives about the festival, their hopes for the first team this coming season and the football they offer from tiny tots, women and girls through to the senior teams and veterans.

President Bill Robson, chairman Luke Johnston, CEO Joe McCluskey, secretary Debra Law and media manager Grace Law all give their thoughts below.
