Stagecoach reveals timetable changes to improve services

Stagecoach has revealed timetable changes to a number of bus services across Cumbria.

The travel firm said the changes were designed to improve punctuality and reliability and will come into effect from September 2.

It said the changes would improve the bus network’s resilience, particularly at times when the road network was congested.

Tom Waterhouse, managing director of Stagecoach Cumbria and North Lancashire, said: “We are working hard to ensure that our passengers can depend on our services to get them where they need to go.

“These changes are necessary to reduce the chance of delays and disruption, especially at peak times.”

Last month, the firm was issued with a formal warning following a public inquiry and DVSA investigation into the bus operator – which found the firm was failing to operate certain of its registered bus services in Cumbria without a reasonable excuse.

Changes to services

Carlisle

Service 93/93A

The 93/93A, Carlisle to Anthorn service has a significantly revised timetable with all journeys operating as service 93 via Drumburgh and Burgh-by-Sands.

Service 104

From Monday to Friday, the journey that sets off at 8.35pm on the 104 from Carlisle to Garlands will no longer operate.

On Sundays and public holidays, all journeys on this Carlisle to Penrith/Center Parcs route will use the A6 near Eden Park to improve punctuality.

Service 62

In Carlisle, the 62, Lowry Hill to Morton Park timing point stop in Lowry Hill Estate has been moved to make the timetable easier to understand. The route and departure times are unchanged.

Service 600

From Monday to Friday, the 600 Carlisle to Cockermouth service will operate direct from Red Dial to Wigton, rather than along Skye Road.

This means the service will depart two minutes later at 07.32.

West Cumbria

Service 29

In West Cumbria, the Workington to Whitehaven service 29 has been revised to incorporate service 1 for Lowca.

The new service will alternate between 29 and 29A.

The 29 travels between Workington, Lillyhall, Distington, Bransty and Whitehaven.

The 29A also operates along the same route as the 29 between Workington and Lillyhall before travelling via Lowca to Bransty and onto Whitehaven.

Services 2/2A, 29, 50/51

Services 2/2A (Whitehaven to Kells), 3/3A (Whitehaven to Mirehouse), 29 (Workington to Whitehaven) and 50/51 (Moorhouse Circular) have all had their timetables amended to improve punctuality.

This means that some departure times may have moved by a few minutes.

Service 30

There is a minor change to the 30 between Maryport and Frizington will now leave at 07.55 due to changed school times.

Service S33

Stagecoach will no longer operate contracted service S33 on behalf of Whitehaven Academy.

The firm said for students who wish to travel to Whitehaven Academy on the wider Stagecoach network of services rather than dedicated school buses, connections are available from across Whitehaven onto service 30.

South Cumbria

Service 6C

Barrow to Kendal passengers should note that the 6C bus will leave Barrow at 07.25 instead of 07.30.

Service 567

On Kendal College days the Service 567 (Kendal to Kirkby Lonsdale) will have one journey that extends to and from Ingleton and Bentham.
