The A595 was closed between Ravenglass and Muncaster yesterday.
In a statement today, police said a man is in a critical condition after he was involved in a collision with a motorbike on the A595 near Muncaster Castle.
It involved a black Triumph motorcycle and a pedestrian at around 3.30pm yesterday, Saturday, August 10.
The pedestrian, a man aged in his 70s, remains in a critical condition in hospital.
The motorcyclist was uninjured.
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have relevant dashcam footage to contact them.
