Claus Vissing, injured in Workington Comets’ Sunday win over Berwick Bandits, suffered a broken hand and dislocated shoulder in a crash.
Vissing is back home in Denmark receiving treatment on the injuries which occurred in heat six of the 52-38 win for the Comets.
The Comets have revealed that Vissing suffered a broken right hand and dislocated left shoulder.
The club added: “He says he is “determined to be back fit for the play-offs should we make it…”
Workington are currently in fourth spot but face competition, particularly from Glasgow Tigers to finish in that position and qualify for the play-offs.
But the Comets do have an ace still up their sleeve. Their last match is at home to Plymouth and as they have already won in Devon, they look in good shape for the aggregate point which could be invaluable.
That final Championship meeting will be on Sunday, August 25 – and that’s sandwiched between two meetings with Poole Pirates in the semi-final of the BSN Series.
They will ride at Poole on Wednesday, August 21 and the return will be at Northside on Saturday, August 31.
- Workington’s Finnish star Antti Vuolas was riding for Belle Vue last night and scored four and a bonus from his four rides as the Aces beat King’s Lynn Stars 53-37.
Dan Bewley, who began the meeting with a last, then reeled off four straight wins for a 12-point total.
Former Comet Charles Wright, a former Belle Vue rider, was brought in as a guest for King’s Lynn but had a disappointing night scoring just two third places in his four rides.
