
Whitehaven Seconds won the Sowerby Cup for the first time when they beat Hawcoat Park by five wickets at Millom.
Haven captain Adam McGarry won the toss and asked Hawcoat to bat, The Muncasters – Dave and Callum – with 29 and 28 respectively, along with Ollie Williams (21) took the score to 73-3.
But then wickets fell regularly as 16-year-old Billy Thompson claimed 3-15, Andrew Cameron 3-30 and veteran Steve Rumney 2-31 as the Barrow based side were bowled out for 142.
Leo Sanczuk (58) and Jamie Bell (22) ensured Whitehaven always looked in control before the resolute Sachin George (18no) and\ vice captain Matty Branthwaite (14no) ensured the cup was heading to the Playground for the first time.
