Music festival Solfest has been forced to cancel today’s performances due to adverse weather last night.
Organisers said they cannot allow anyone onto the site, near Silloth.
In a social media post, they said: “After assessing the situation we want to pull all our teams together and work on making the site safer for your arrival on Friday instead.
“We plan to open Friday at 11am and will be updating further this afternoon if this can happen sooner.
“Many of us were up all night ensuring the tents and crew were safe.
“We advise anyone who was planning to set off to stay at home and we will be emailing Thursday ticket holders about refunds or roll over Thursday for 2025 after the 2024 event.
“Anyone who has set off we advise not to come to site but we also have a duty of care so please contact us if you have an issue.
“This isn’t the update we wanted to give you but public safety is paramount.
“The storm has passed and the weather is looking to improve over the rest of the weekend and we look forward to welcoming you tomorrow.”
People planning to camp at north Cumbrian music festival Solfest this weekend are asked not to arrive before noon today.
Organisers of the event, near Silloth, said they had delayed the opening of the camping fields due to the high wind and rain overnight.
They said: “Letting the fields drain for five hours should be plenty of time for our sand based land to fully drain and keep the fields looking pristine for your arrival, we apologise for this inconvenience but it will make for a better arrival experience! We did a similar thing in 2019 and no one could tell it had been raining by midday!
“The rest of the weekend looks like the wind will die down and there will be daytime sun with a chance of some light showers.
“Music doesn’t begin until 5pm and will not be affected at this time so we look forward to Peter Hook, Utah Saints, and Beatles Dub Club!
