A Penrith firm has helped Eden Valley Hospice spruce up its gardens with a major donation.
AW Jenkinson gave the Durdar Road organisation six cubic metres of bark fines, which will play a crucial role in enhancing the hospice’s gardens.
The hospice said: “This donation was particularly timely, as the hospice recently received a fantastic delivery of bedding plants from B&Q Carlisle but lacked the compost which was needed to plant them. The freshly planted garden will create a bright and welcoming environment for patients and their families.”
Ella Purdy, digital marketing apprentice at AW Jenkinson Forest Products, said: “We were delighted to donate some compost to Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw. Their work to support people with life-limiting illnesses is invaluable, and all of the gardening that their wonderful volunteer gardeners will be getting up to with the new compost will surely brighten the days of those who visit.”
The donation has also helped the hospice’s volunteer gardeners to create the Garden of Memories.
The Garden of Memories is the hospice’s annual remembrance event, which took place on August 13. It provides a space for families to remember their loved ones by displaying their names in the garden throughout August.
Jerry Hall, head of facilities and safety at the hospice, said: “We’re very grateful for the very generous donation of compost from AW Jenkinson Forest Products and thank them for their ongoing support. Contributions from the community are essential in helping the hospice maintain its caring and compassionate environment for patients and visitors.”
