Carlisle City got back to winning ways when they beat high-flying Blyth Town 3-2 at Gillford Park.
Three second-half goals earned City the win after the visitors had bagged an early lead with a goal from Brandon Slater after five minutes.
They got the break they needed on 21 minutes when Blyth had their goalkeeper sent-off and that was the turning-point in the game.
City dominated possession after that but had to be patient as Blyth defended grittily and it was only in the last thirty minutes that they scored the goals that won the contest.
Keelan Leslie slung over a great cross on 59 minutes ands Callum Birdsall got on the end of it to score the equaliser.
Then on 77 minutes the moment of the game. Jake Simpson, who had trained with the team on Thursday and signed, had been brought on as a substitute for the last 15 minutes and he scored a screamer – top corner job from 35 yards.
Birdsall added his second four minutes from time and although Joe Gibson netted for Blyth in the fourth minute of added time it was virtually the last kick of the game.
City move on now to Tuesday when they have another home game against Birtley Town who drew 1-1 at home to Newcastle Blue Star on Friday night.
Now twelfth in the table, City will host a side who are surprisingly fourth bottom after being tipped for a play-off challenge.
