Simon Rogan is celebrating five years of his Lake District restaurant Henrock.
The restaurant, at Linthwaite House, opened in 2019 and is planning a week-long celebration from October 16.
It was Rogan’s fourth Cumbrian venue and to mark the anniversary, executive chef Paul Burgalières and head chef Mark McCabe have created a special menu that celebrates the traditional fifth anniversary gift of wood, using the natural bounty that grows in and around British woodlands, including mushrooms, truffles, nuts, fruits, flowers, woodland herbs, and wild venison.
To further mark the occasion Linthwaite House and Henrock have teamed up to offer a unique celebration package, which includes one night’s luxury accommodation, a specially created welcome drink and tasting menu at Henrock, and breakfast cooked by the Linthwaite House kitchen team the next morning.
Linthwaite House’s team will present hotel guests with bespoke gifts from carefully selected, highly respected local producers.
Named after a rocky outcrop, located on the shores of Windemere, which can be viewed from Linthwaite House, Henrock was billed as a significant departure from Simon’s other restaurants locally; L’Enclume, Aulis Cartmel and Rogan & Co with their focus rooted in British cooking and ingredients.
Henrock introduced influences, techniques and produce discovered on the chef’s travels around the globe, namely from operating multi-award-winning restaurants in the Mediterranean and Asia.
In line with Simon’s farm-to-table ethos, each seasonal ingredient has been carefully selected, nurtured and grown a few miles away at Our Farm in the heart of the Cartmel Valley, alongside produce carefully sourced from some of the UK’s best suppliers.
Sam Ward, Umbel Restaurant Group’s managing director, said: ‘’The last five years have flown by, and during that time both Henrock and Linthwaite House have continued to evolve and to grow, becoming firm favourites with hotel guests, local diners as well restaurant and hotel lovers from further afield.
“Our combined teams work so well together, focused entirely on ensuring that every guest is looked after from the moment they set foot in the hotel and restaurant, to the moment they leave. It’s so gratifying to see what can be achieved when hospitality teams work together in pursuit of the same objective.’’
