Kendal Town manager Jimmy Marshall welcomes a free week in order for two key injured players to recover.
Steve Yawson had to come off in Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at Whitley Bay suffering from a back spasm while Ryan Winder, coming back from a hamstring injury picked up a knock on the calf shortly after going on as a substitute.
Kendal have a break from Northern League football and when they return on Saturday it’s the FA Vase and a trip to Horden Community Welfare.
In the week off Marshall will be looking for a re-set after the team’s six match unbeaten run came to an end at Whitley Bay.
“It’s very disappointing to end this way because it’s a game we should have won.
“We started really brightly for 20-odd minutes but weren’t able to get our noses in front before conceding a breakaway goal which should never have happened.
“It was a similar story in the second-half when we had plenty of possession, created chances and then conceded another goal on the counter attack.
“I feel really sorry for the fans who made the trip and gave us some terrific backing as they have been absolutely brilliant for us,” said Marshall.
Callum Larmouth scored the first Bay goal on 23 minutes and the home side sealed the win with a second goal two minutes from time by Kyle Cockburn
Horden CW sit second in the Northern League Second Division, two points behind the leaders Esh Winning with a game in hand.
Beaten only once in 13 games, and with two draws on their record they are looking to create an upset in the Vase and will be dangerous opponents.
