The A66 was closed for several hours in both directions after a collision.
Cumbria police said it involved a car and a motorbike today Friday, September 27.
It happened near the Sportsman Inn.
It is understood an air ambulance was called to the scene.
The road was closed between the Troutbeck and Penruddock junctions and drivers were urged to avoid the area.
The incident was reported at 12.50pm.
