West Cumbrian star Dan Bewley has had his best ever Grand Prix season by finishing fourth in the FIM World Championship.
It was a great year for Great Britain as Bewley’s international team-mate Robert Lamb finished second in the final rankings.
Indeed it was through Bewley finishing third in last night’s final GP in Torun, holding off Fredd Lindgren for third place that helped clinch the silver medal position for Lambert.
Lindgren needed to finish first or second in the final to pip Lambert for second but he couldn’t get past Bewley to put in a challenge to the leading pair, five-times world champions Bartosz Zmarzlik and Leon Madsen.
With Lambert and Bewley having also won the FIM Speedway of Nations for GB earlier this summer, their next target is to challenge Zmarzlik for the individual crown in 2025.
But Bewley has domestic honours to chase and round off a terrific season in which he won the British Grand Prix and took the British title again.
His side Belle Vue Aces have an 18-point lead over Leicester Lions in the Premier Championship play-off ahead of the second leg at Leicester.
That should have been staged tomorrow night but has already been postponed and hopefully will be run on Thursday night.
