Hot on the heels of five hotels in Cumbria being named among the best in the UK by the prestigious Michelin Guide, more accolades are pouring in for venues in the county.
The Michelin Guide revealed the recipients of its first ever Michelin Keys yesterday.
This week has also revealed the winners of the Conde Nast Readers Choice Awards 2024.
Windermere’s Gilpin Hotel & Lake House, Linthwaite House and Langdale Chase all feature in the Best Hotels lists.
More than 125,000 travellers from across the UK submitted responses rating their travel experiences across the globe.
Gilpin Hotel & Lake House, which was awarded two Michelin Keys yesterday, has also been shortlisted in the 2025 Condé Nast Johansens Awards for Excellence as Best Hotel for Romance.
The Hazelbank Country House at Borrowdale has been shortlisted in the Best Service category and Rothay Manor at Ambleside is a finalist in the Best Small & Exclusive category, while Farlam Hall, near Brampton, is vying for the Best Restaurant title and Storrs Hall is nominated in the Best Waterside Hotel category.
Thomas Ferrante, general manager of Gilpin Hotel & Lake House, said: “These awards are very special to us here at Gilpin as the finalists are voted for by readers or incorporate guest feedback – these are the guests who choose to spend their precious time with us and who remain at the absolute heart of everything we do.
“As a family-run hotel, being recognised in these prestigious global awards, alongside so many exceptional hotels and properties, really does mean the world to us. A huge thank you, and congratulations, to our incredible team who continue to make Gilpin the special place it is.”
