
Penrith moved into the second round of the Fred Conway Cup with a 4-0 win at neighbours Kirkoswald.
Darren Edmondson’s Northern League side made the short eight-mile trip to take on KO who currently lie second in the Westmorland League.
Although Penrith were clear winners their hosts put up a gutsy show making it a good work-out for the Bonnyblues.
Penrith were well on their way to the second round by half-time when they had established a three-goal advantage.
They couldn’t have asked for a better start as Conor Hammell gave them the lead after only four minutes. It was Hammell again on 33 minutes who doubled the lead and Luke Hunter added the third five minutes later.
Martyn Coleman scored the fourth Penrith goal midway through the second-half and although KO went close twice begore the end the visitors were home and dry.
The draw for the second round is unlikely to be made until after the final tie is played between Carlisle United and Workington Juniors on October 23.
