Workington’s Jamie Allen was an unused substitute last night when Montserrat beat Bonaire 1-0 in their Concacaf Nations League B Group A international.
Skipper Lyle Taylor, who led the line for Colchester against Carlisle United last Saturday, scored from the penalty spot early in the second half to win it for Lee Bowyer’s side.
Allen, recalled to the squad by Bowyer, will be hoping to get a taste of the action on Sunday when Montserrat follow up in the home game against Bonaire.
Interestingly Colchester’s League Two clash with Fleetwood Town scheduled for this weekend has been postponed due to international call-ups for both sides.
However that won’t apply for the Reds who will be without Allen for tomorrow’s home game against Ilkeston in the NPL Premier Division.
Allen, 29, who is a former contestant on Love Island, sparked the com-back win over Morpeth Town last week when he put Reds ahead with a late strike before man of the match Steve Rigg grabbed his second for a 3-1 victory.
That earned Reds a home draw with Bamber Bridge in the first round proper of the FA Trophy.
