Kendal Town boss Jimmy Marshall believes his side have now come to terms with the Northern League.
Saturday’s 2-1 home win over North Shields pushed them up into the play-off positions after a slow start to life in their new surroundings.
“We’ve had some disappointments along the way, but I was particularly pleased with how the players reacted after our poor result at Seaham Red Star the week before.
“I thought they would respond and there was determination among the group to put things right. Getting into the play-off positions I think confirms that we have come to terms with what the new league is about.
“It’s been quite good from a personal point of view as a manager. It’s good to see new teams, make new contacts and actually the travelling hasn’t been as bad as we were expecting.
“It’s our job now to make sure we stay where we are and push on between now and the end of the season.
“We had a game plan against North Shields and it worked really well. The only downside for me was not getting a clean sheet through conceding late on,” said Marshall.
There was a downside, too, with two early injuries to Bailey Kenny and Tom Kilifin which saw them both replaced in the first-half.
With a free week there might be time for them to be back in contention on Saturday when the Mintcakes travel to Newcastle Benfield.
They have an interesting form guide, too, as Benfield were at Seaham Red Star last night and won 4-3, 10 days after Kendal lost there 4-3.
